Thames treasure

Mudlarking started as a way to clear my head being in a busy city like London. Mudlarking is like beachcombing, but on the Thames foreshore. It soon became a bit of an obsession, even though I haven’t found anything of historical significance yet. The fun of mudlarking is the search itself, the anticipation of finding something unique, surprising, out of the ordinary. I don’t take all the pieces that I find with me, I like to leave things behind for other mudlarks to find.

However a small selection of the treasures I take home serve as a reference and inspiration for my artwork.

I have not figured out a decent cataloguing system yet. Currently the pieces are kept in plastic zip bags with a date, location and material on them. See images of my finds below.
